Watling Primary School, Near Calverton Lane, Milton Keynes

Kingfisher Louvres are proud to have been a part of the new £8.8m development of Watling Primary School near Calverton Lane in Whitehouse, Milton Keynes.

With sustainability a focus, the new school includes a large activity hall, 18 classrooms and open plan indoor and outdoor spaces, with a range of features such as solar panels, heat pumps and intelligent heating controls, that will reduce the building’s reliance on fossil fuels and save the school money.

Approximately 1300 metres of Kingfisher’s KC120 aluminium louvre blades with a 75mm pitch and 5- metre high M1 mullions were supplied to our customer, Sage Building Envelope Contractors for the purpose of screening the various plant equipment on the roof. The blades were supplied with a polyester powder coating in RAL 7039 matt with factory-mitred corners to provide the best finish on site and to enhance the aesthetics of the school’s façade. The mullions were also provided pre-clipped ensuring a consistent pitch and easy install.

Developed by Willmott Dixon for Milton Keynes Council and working with Synergy Architects the new school and nursery which opened in September 2023 has places for over 600 primary pupils and 40 nursery children. Part of the Denbigh Alliance Multi-Academy Trust, the new school will provide local education for the housing developments taking place in Fairfields and Whitehouse and is the third new primary school in the Western Expansion area of Milton Keynes, where thousand of new homes are being built.
