Versatile ventilation and weather protection

Part of the Building Product Design group and sister company to Glidevale Protect, Kingfisher Louvres offers a comprehensive collection of high-quality, extruded aluminium louvre systems for use across a wide range of sectors and applications. The product range includes weather louvres, screening louvres, acoustic louvres, framed grilles, and louvred doors, all designed to deliver exceptional performance in ventilation, screening, and aesthetic integration. With extensive experience of working on contracts across various sectors, here are just a few recent highlights.

Supporting wellbeing goals at the University of Huddersfield
Kingfisher Louvres has supplied a comprehensive package of weather and screening louvres for the striking new Daphne Steele Building at the University of Huddersfield, the first of seven planned buildings on the university’s National Health Innovation Campus. Working closely with Certa Roofing & Cladding Ltd, Kingfisher provided its KW100Z weather louvres and KC120 screening louvres in a distinctive matt metallic bronze finish. The louvres were installed to deliver a continuous façade feature across the high-level plant room, the ground floor, and the building’s fourth and seventh floors, combining sleek aesthetics with robust functionality.

Completed at the end of 2024, the Daphne Steele Building is the first university building in the UK to be designed to the WELL Platinum Standard — the highest rating awarded by the International WELL Building Institute. It was designed by AHR Architects and delivered by main contractor BAM with multi-disciplinary engineering services and sustainable design solutions provided by Cundall.

A sound solution for a prestigious London hotel
Kingfisher Louvres were part of the redevelopment of One Berkeley Street in central London, a major mixed-use scheme incorporating a luxury hotel that sits directly opposite The Ritz in the heart of the Mayfair conservation area.

For this complex and high-profile project, Kingfisher supplied more than 600 acoustic louvre modules and over 1,600 metres of screening louvre blade. The company worked in partnership with main contractor DE Group Contracting and Allford Hall Monaghan Morris architects to develop a louvre solution that would effectively screen rooftop plant equipment while also providing the necessary acoustic performance to minimise noise from HVAC systems.

Kingfisher’s KA acoustic louvre modules were selected to meet the varying sound attenuation needs across the roofscape, offering permanent ventilation combined with airborne sound reduction. A combination of KA150/20 and KA270/20 modules were supplied in a RAL 7047 matt finish, along with the company’s KC120 screening louvres.

Making an impression in the Midlands
Another landmark hotel that is also benefitting from Kingfisher’s extensive range of solutions is The Belfry Hotel & Resort in Sutton Coldfield. As part of the hotel’s landmark £80 million redevelopment and expansion programme which is due for completion later this year, Kingfisher Louvres has been supporting façade contractor ALD Group with bespoke screening solutions for the new ballroom and conference suite. Designed to complement the architectural character of the existing building while meeting new sustainability targets, the UK manufacturer supplied KC120 screening louvres in RAL 9005 Jet Black to discreetly shield plant equipment, along with four custom KW30Z flanged frames. Kingfisher’s technical sales team and design engineers played a key role in the early design and procurement stages, collaborating closely with ALD to provide specialist product guidance. This prestigious project has been designed and built to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating (Belfry Hotel project pictured above).

Support for specifiers and contractors
From design development to delivery, Kingfisher Louvres works in close partnership with their clients, supporting specifiers and contractors to meet the requirements of their customers and the demands of individual contracts. With in-house manufacturing and a supportive project-led approach, Kingfisher is well equipped to meet tight deadlines, manage bespoke specifications, and adapt to the practical challenges of working across the sectors.
